This series consists of records maintained by Dean G. Edwards in his capacity as Label Review Officer in the New York office of the Compliance Division. As Label Review Officer Edwards exercised the authority of the Division to affirm, suspend, or modify the action of any code authority in suspending the issuance of labels. The records in this series consist of label case files, containing complaints lodged against a firm by a code authority, the recommendation for suspension of the issuance of labels, and related correspondence, correspondence with the code authority and the alleged violator seeking an adjustment of the complaint, transcripts of hearings, and records relating to the final disposition and settlement of the case; correspondence with code authorities relating to membership, statistical information relating to certain industries, proposed label regulations, and press releases and other informational material; copies of speeches given by label review officers, copies of form letters, minutes of meetings of intercode conferences, correspondence with other members of the Compliance Division, and records containing data on labels and prison-made goods.
